How to Rank Your Business on Google Maps in the UAE (Step-by-Step)

When someone in the UAE searches “AC repair near me”, “salon in Al Nahda” or “car garage Mussafah”, Google shows a map with three businesses at the top. Those three businesses get most of the calls. This is called the Google Maps “local pack”, and the good news is that you can improve your chances of appearing there.

In this step-by-step guide we explain how we help businesses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah rank on Google Maps.

How Google decides who ranks on Google Maps

Google says local results are based mainly on three things:

  • Relevance – how well your business profile matches what the person searched for.
  • Distance – how far your business is from the person searching (or the area they typed).
  • Prominence – how well-known and trusted your business is, including reviews, links and your website.

You cannot change distance, but you can improve relevance and prominence. Every step below does exactly that.

Step 1: Claim and verify your Google Business Profile

Go to Google Business Profile with your business Google account, search for your business name and claim it, or create a new profile. Google will ask you to verify it – often by video, phone or another method. You cannot rank properly until the profile is verified.

Step 2: Choose the right primary category

The primary category is one of the strongest signals. Choose the category that describes your main service as exactly as possible – for example “Website designer” instead of just “Consultant”, or “Car repair and maintenance” instead of “Service”. Add a few relevant secondary categories, but do not add categories you do not really offer.

Step 3: Keep your name, address and phone exactly the same everywhere

Your business name, address and phone number (often called NAP) should be identical on your Google profile, your website, Facebook and business directories. In the UAE, addresses are often written in many different ways, so pick one format and use it everywhere.

Use your real business name. Adding keywords to your name, such as “Best Web Design Dubai”, is against Google’s guidelines and can get your profile suspended.

Step 4: Complete every section of the profile

  • Opening hours (including special hours for Ramadan and public holidays)
  • Services or products with short descriptions and prices if possible
  • Business description that explains what you do and which areas you serve
  • Website link, WhatsApp and phone number
  • Service areas, if you visit customers (for example Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman)

Step 5: Add real photos regularly

Upload photos of your shop front, inside, team, products and finished work. A clear photo of the outside helps customers find you and shows Google that the business is real. Add new photos every month instead of all at once.

Step 6: Get more genuine reviews – and reply to them

Reviews are one of the biggest factors for prominence and for convincing customers. Ask every happy customer for a review: send your review link on WhatsApp right after a successful job or purchase. Reply to every review, good or bad, politely and professionally.

Never buy reviews or write fake ones. Google removes them and can restrict your profile.

Step 7: Make your website support your Google profile

Your website is a big part of prominence. Make sure it has:

  • Your address, phone and WhatsApp in the footer, exactly as on Google
  • An embedded Google Map on the contact page
  • Separate pages for your main services and the cities you serve
  • LocalBusiness schema – code that tells Google your business name, address, phone and service area
  • Fast loading on mobile, because most local searches happen on phones

Step 8: Post updates and track your results

Use Google Business Profile posts to share offers, new services and news. Then check the Performance section each month to see how many people found you, called you, asked for directions or visited your website.

How long does it take?

Some changes, like fixing your category and adding photos, can help within weeks. Building reviews and website authority takes longer. No one can honestly guarantee the number one position, so be careful with anyone who promises it.
